Spot came to Furkids because his family no longer had time for him. They realized that last summer when Spot suddenly went blind. Imagine losing your eyesight and then your home and family. That's a lot of loss for one little dog! But this 12-lb. trooper has kept his little Japanese chin up and wants only to be loved. Spot is fine with children but due to his very limited vision would probably be best in a home with older children. Spot enjoys the company of other small dogs. Most of all, Spot enjoys a warm lap to curl up on and a gentle voice to reassure him that he is safe and loved in his forever home. Since Spot's estimated birthdate is 3/13/2011.

I am already spayed and up to date with shots.

Lucy Maude is an 11 year-old gal who is a super sweet little girl. She came to BHRG after her lifelong owner had a stroke. She loves to sit on the couch with you. She can't get up on the couch by herself anymore, but she will look at you with her big, beautiful hound eyes and let you know she wants to sit with you. She is a bit hard of hearing, but who isn't at nearly 80 years old in dog years? She just had a complete vet check up that included removing several benign lumps and a full dental. Her senior blood work looked great! She is very submissive, and gets along well with her foster brothers and sister. Lucy Maude will go into her crate when we leave and at night with bribery of a treat. Will someone give this old lady a place to rest her head for her Golden Years?

Pebbles is sweet and as quiet as can be. She is leash trained, sits and stays, housebroken, and good with kids. Pebbles was brought to the shelter as an owner turn in on 5/2/2015. The owner said they are now traveling too much to take care of her. She is about 12 years old and 32 lbs. Pebbles is current on her vaccines and spayed, so she is ready to go home with you today. She will be microchipped and heartworm tested when adopted.

Brody is a very sweet old boy. He appears to be house trained, and spends most of his time sleeping. Brody arrived at the shelter as a stray on 4/17 and although he was microchipped, his people aren't coming for him. It breaks our hearts to see seniors in the shelter. They should be at home on a nice comfy bed living out their golden years. Brody is up to date on shots including rabies, neutered, and heartworm tested negative. His ID is 573843, he is in cage 301 in the Puppy Room, he is 14 years old and weighs 36 lbs. Please give Brody a chance, he is counting on you to get him out of here.

Leon Russell - Needs Experienced Foster/Ad's Story...

Leon (aka Chicken Wing) is a gorgeous male Belgian Malinois mix who is hoping to find his human BFF soon -- this poor puppy watched all of his littermates get adopted into new families.

Leon and his litter showed up at animal control many months ago, but this little guy stood out from the crowd. He had a deformed leg that had to be removed.

Don't let the fact that Leon only has 3 legs fool you, he is still active and ready to work. He would do best in a home with and owner who is familiar with working breed dogs.

This boy is really good with everyone when he is out and about, but can get very attached to one person and get a bit protective of that person inside the home. So, Leon really needs an owner who is committed to working with him and making sure he gets plenty of exercise and socialization.

Leon is currently attending training at Frogs to Dogs in Kirkwood to help him adjust to life as a tripaw and to continue his socialization with people and pups alike. His adoption fee will include a basic training package with Frogs to Dogs for his new family.

This happy boy is anxious to make a permanent connection with family and friends to call his very own!

Hey! Mugsy Elnar here. Listen up, ‘cause I don’t have time to waste! If I look familiar it’s because I was on this page not too long ago. So if you’re saying it’s like deja blue, deja boo … whatever. Yeah, like that because I’m here, again. Let’s cut to the chase. I’m fifteen years old, my owner retired to Florida and didn’t take me. I got a one way ticket back to Furkids. Go figure. Nothing personal, Furkids, but Florida sounded great. White sand beaches, palm trees, canasta…. I haven’t had so much as a postcard. The good news for you is that I’m now single and available! If you’ve been kicking yourself for not adopting me last go around, here’s your chance. I’m a swell guy and not hard to get along with. At 17 lbs., I don’t take up much space. I probably would’ve fit in her carry on. Of course, it goes without saying that I’m easy on the eyes. Check out my headshots. And I’ve got something else, character! And how about loyalty? I wrote the book on loyalty. Obviously, she didn’t read it before she left. That’s okay, I‘m ready to move on … move on over to your place! That is, if you’ll have me. Whaddya say? I think we’ve got some good years left between us. This is gonna be great! I'm near Atlanta, GA.

Beignet! An adorable Shepard mix, female...ready for her home!

Beignet's Story...

Chained in a yard in rural Alabama, a lab mix had 8 tiny pups in early February. Rescued by us, she was been able to nurse and wean her puppies in safety and comfort.

Beignet is one of those sweet babies. With her adorable scruffy fur coat and expressive baby face she is almost impossible to resist! She loves playing with her brothers and sisters and being held.

Duke was adopted from Cobb County Animal Control, but the resident dog did not get along with him. Rather than returning him to the shelter, his family turned to us for help. He is very playful and sweet.

She loves all toys and playing “one way fetch” (you throw toys for her to chase but she doesn’t bring them back).
Affection: She is the quintessential lap cat. She is VERY sweet and affectionate. Likes cuddling on the couch or bed. She loves being held and petted but her absolute favorite are face kisses! She will let you kiss her all over her face and she’ll purr like a freight train all the while! She is a great companion!
